As Judy finished speaking, she sighed deeply, and Ariana felt a pang of sadness.
It was clear that the Chadwick family, wealthy and full of enemies, often found their children in danger.
Ariana nodded in understanding and followed Judy.
They reached the dressing room, where Judy assured Ariana, “The clothes in there are all new. They ought to fit you.”
Ariana nodded and headed inside to choose clothes.
Inside the dressing room, there were plenty of clothes to choose from.
After some time, Ariana picked out a simple yet elegant knee-length blue dress.
She put on the dress, but then she realized her hair was caught in the zipper at the back as she changed.
Ariana tried several times but couldn’t pull it up. She also noticed that many strands of hair were tangled in it. With a soft sigh, she knocked on the door and called out, “Judy, my zipper’s stuck. Can you help me with it?”
“Sure.” Upon hearing Ariana, Judy entered the room to assist.
She carefully removed the hair entangled in the zipper. Once the hair was free, she pulled the zipper down a bit.
Ariana’s fair back was revealed. Judy caught a glimpse of a red mark under Ariana’s shoulder blade.
She recalled having seen it before and suddenly felt a sense of familiarity, prompting her to take a closer look.
When Judy saw the red birthmark under Ariana’s shoulder blade clearly, she froze.

Judy was astonished. How could Ariana have the same birthmark as Rodney’s granddaughter?
“Judy?” Ariana noticed Judy hadn’t moved and asked, “What’s wrong?”
She turned to see Judy’s expression; Judy seemed off. Her face was pale. Concerned, Ariana quickly said, “Judy, what’s wrong? Are you feeling alright?”
Judy snapped out of her daze, pulled the zipper up for Ariana, and replied, “I’m okay. Just had a bit of a stomachache, but it’s gone now.”
“Why don’t you sit down and rest for a bit?” Ariana helped Judy sit and said with concern, “You really need to take care of yourself. Even small aches and pains shouldn’t be ignored. When you have time, you might want to go to the hospital for a check-up.”
Judy nodded and sat, trying to reassure Ariana, “I’m okay, really. I’ll feel better after I rest. Don’t worry about me.”
As she spoke, Judy’s mind raced, haunted by the birthmark on Ariana’s back she had glimpsed earlier. Knowing it was inherited, Judy felt a stir of unease.
Seeing Judy’s color return, Ariana decided not to press further. She went to fix her hair.
Judy watched Ariana walk away, her thoughts swirling in disarray.
